Britt Allen (she/her/hers) completed her undergraduate education in Science in Society and Gender and Women’s Studies at Wesleyan University and her medical education at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She went on to complete a residency and chief residency at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago before returning to the University of Wisconsin.
She is currently an associate professor of pediatrics and a general pediatrician as well as a co-medical director and provider in the Pediatric and Adolescent Transgender Health Clinic at American Family Children’s Hospital. Britt integrates education throughout her clinical work, is a regular attendee at morning report, and has been the recipient of a number of teaching awards.
She focuses her academic work on improving the health and healthcare experiences of LGBTQ+ youth through advocacy and education and is a member of the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section on LGBT Health and Wellness. She is also the pediatric champion and curricular co-lead for UW Health’s LGBTQ+ Health Primary Care fellowship.
